The Grascals Join Charlie Daniels in Support of US Military
Nashville, TN – This week, the legendary Charlie Daniels hosted the Charlie Daniels’ Scholarship for Heroes event; a special free concert to support Lipscomb University’s Yellow Ribbon Enhancement Program. Daniels was joined by a chart-topping lineup of entertainment industry friends including Jason Aldean, Lee Greenwood, Chris Young and the multi-award winning Bluegrass band, The Grascals, making their fourth consecutive appearance at the annual event.
“We’re always ready to step up and support our active military and veterans,” explained Jamie Johnson of The Grascals. “We’re so proud to call Charlie Daniels a friend and to join him in support of the people who serve far away so that we can all pursue our lives in security here at home.”
Daniels, an avid supporter of the military, expressed pleasure with the evening and the community support.
“We have so many heroes whose needs fly below our radar,” said Daniels. “This shouldn’t be happening and this event is helping to make sure it doesn’t.”
Terry Eldredge is even more effusive, saying of his friend, “I believe Charlie Daniels is Santa Claus, I really do. He is always giving.”
Also appearing, military veteran and country music artist, Keni Thomas, and the Christian Rock band, Bleach, whose members lost a brother in Iraq. The event included a presentation by Mary Byers, President of Gold Star Mothers, Inc., an organization of mothers who have lost sons or daughters who were in military service.

Grascals on Marie
The Grascals made an appearance on Marie 2.27.13. Hosted by Marie Osmond, the show airs on The Hallmark Channel. The Grascals performed “PRETTY MELODY” from their Grammy-nominated album LIFE FINDS A WAY, as well as the instrumental “BLUE ROCK SLIDE.” Marie, who knows a thing or two about being the only girl in the company of guys, asked Kristin Scott Benson what it’s like to be the only girl on the road with The Grascals. Showing her quick wit, Kristin quipped, “It’s like being in sixth grade your whole life,” earning a high five from Marie, sister to the 8 Osmond brothers.

2013 Instrumental Group of the Year
It’s a triple-header for The Grascals, who were honored again as SPBGMA’s Instrumental Group of the Year. The band received the award in the 2012 and 2011 SPBGMA awards as well, making this the 3rd in a row. “We’re so grateful to SPBGMA and the fans for embracing The Grascals and being so appreciative of what we do,” Jamie says. “We just love the music and we’d play and sing even if no one was listening. It’s all the sweeter to know that we can share the music with others.”

Grascals Appear on Jay Leno
THE GRASCALS recently met one of their entertainment heroes when they appeared on NBC’s The Tonight Show with Jay Leno. Hollywood icon Robert DeNiro was also a guest, along with Sherri Shepherd (of The View).
“As if it wasn’t a big enough thrill to perform on The Tonight Show, and believe me, it was a huge thrill,” Terry Eldredge says, “ then we found out that Robert DeNiro would be on the same show. Robert DeNiro, man; ‘The Deer Hunter,’ ‘Goodfellas,’ ‘Taxi Driver.’ Now, that’s Hollywood!”
The two-time Academy Award winner, DeNiro, met with the band backstage and took time for a photo.
As musical guest, The Grascals closed the show with “Mystery Train” from their album Life Finds A Way (Mountain Home Music). The project is nominated for Best Bluegrass Album in the upcoming 55th annual Grammy Awards which will air on CBS February 10th.
“The Tonight Show experience was definitely a career highlight,” Danny Roberts says. “Everyone involved in that show is top-notch. Jay Leno is gracious and welcoming and that crew made us feel right at home. They all work hard and have a good time, which is the way we like to do it.”
The Grascals are nominated for Instrumental Group of the Year in the upcoming SPBGMA Awards to be held in Nashville. Soon after, they’ll make another appearance on The Grand Ole Opry as part of their busy 2013 schedule.

Nashville, TN — Bluegrass power-pickers, The Grascals are headed to NBC’s Burbank Studios for their Tonight Show debut on Friday, January 25th. The band will perform “Mystery Train” from their Grammy-nominated album LIFE FINDS A WAY.
It’s a coast-to-coast week for The Grascals who performed in Washington D.C. on Monday as part of the Inaugural events. The band played at the Native Nations Inaugural Ball at the Smithsonian Institution’s National Museum of the American Indian. Founding member, Jamie Johnson, is a member of the Chippewa tribe.
Join host Jay Leno with The Grascals as musical guest this Friday, 1/25/13. The Tonight Show airs on NBC at 11:35 p.m. Eastern / 10:35 p.m. Central.

The Grascals to Perform at Smithsonian
Nashville, TN — Multi-award-winning band, The Grascals, will perform at the Smithsonian Institution’s National Museum of the American Indian on January 21st at 7:00 p.m. for a celebration of the Inauguration of the President of the United States.
The Native Nations Inaugural Ball will feature music, dancing and native cuisine. Funds raised will support the educational programs of the National Museum of the American Indian.
Located on the National Mall in Washington D.C., the museum is one of three facilities operated by The National Museum of the American Indian. It offers exhibition galleries and spaces for performances, lectures and symposia, research, and education.
Master of Ceremony for the event is Native American actor, Chaske Spencer, who has appeared in numerous films including The Twilight Saga, as werewolf Sam Uley. Other performers include the Murray Porter Band, Martha Redbone, Gabriel Ayala and Gerry Barrett.
Jamie Johnson, founding member of The Grascals, is a proud member of the Aamjiwnaang (Chippewa) First Nation of Sarnia, Ontario, where his cousin, Christopher Plain, serves as tribal chief.
“I am proud of my Native American ancestry and so honored for the Grascals to be a part of the Inaugural events,” Johnson says. “Native communities, past and present, are rich in cultural history and diversity. It is poignant for Native Nations to join together in celebrating the inauguration of our 44th President.”
The Grascals are nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Bluegrass Album for Life Finds A Way (Mountain Home Music). The Grammy Awards air on CBS February 10th.

Formed in 2004, the Grascals have emerged as one of the top bands in modern bluegrass, garnering IBMA awards and Grammy nominations while sharing the stage with the major acts of bluegrass and country music. While the individual band members had long been working professionally on major bluegrass circuits, they never could have anticipated the success they would come to have when they teamed up. Even before their first album was completed they found themselves working with Dolly Parton, who had been recording bluegrass albums for several years.
