Athletes, Country and Bluegrass Stars Step Up for Children

Nashville, TN — Former Tennessee Titan Kevin Carter, along with Jay DeMarcus of Rascal Flatts, hosted the 11th annual Waiting for Wishes celebrity waiters dinner at The Palm Restaurant in Nashville. Celebrity waiters, including Jamie Johnson of The Grascals, donned waiters jackets to serve diners, sign autographs and accept donations.

Celebrity participants included Joe Don Rooney of Rascal Flatts, skating champion Scott Hamilton, singer Guy Penrod and NFL greats Eddie George, Craig Hentrich, Derrick Mason, Brad Hopkins and Eric Winston among many others. Silent and live auctions offered plenty of opportunity for giving with proceeds benefitting The Kevin Carter Foundation and The Make-A-Wish Foundation of Middle Tennessee. More than $1 million has been raised over the past decade to support this vital charity.

Multi-award winners, The Grascals, recently made their 117th appearance on the stage of the legendary Grand Ole Opry followed by a sold out performance at the famed Cumberland Caverns for an installment of the very unique “Bluegrass Underground” series.

KEB’ MO’ AND VINCE GILL HEADLINE MUSIC VOYAGER WORLD PREMIERE

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Tennessee’s fascinating music culture and history was captured and shown at the world premiere of Music Voyager: Tennessee – Nashville, Music City Feb. 15 at the Franklin Theatre. Artists Vince Gill and Keb’ Mo’ took the stage in a surprise musical performance to celebrate the launch of the series. Music legend Guy Clark joined them for the finale, closing the show in true Tennessee style. Music Voyager – Tennessee will soon make its way into 170 million homes worldwide.

Music Voyager is a music and travel series that gives viewers an up-close observation of the world’s most popular music. Music Voyager: Tennessee takes viewers along Interstate 40, known as the “Music Highway,” from Bristol to Memphis. Jacob Edgar, Music Voyager on-camera host, was the emcee for the Feb. 15 event that highlighted the Middle Tennessee portion of the series. The airing of the episode was followed by a sneak preview of a special fourth episode, “The Round.” Two additional Music Voyager episodes highlight the music of Memphis and East Tennessee, respectively. Premiere events of these episodes are slated for later this year.

“Tennessee and Music Voyager is a match made in music heaven,” said Commissioner Susan Whitaker, Tennessee Department of Tourist Development. “There’s no doubt that Music Voyager: Tennessee will help showcase the already enormous significance of the music of Tennessee on the world stage.”

The elite evening of entertainment and celebration also featured a performance by Alison Brown and Ron Ickes, along with remarks by Commissioner Whitaker. Special guests featured in Music Voyager episodes who also attended the premiere included: Jamie Johnson of the Grascals, five-year cancer survivor Ansley McLaurin who sang on “I Am Strong,” Shawn Byrne and Susanne Mumpower- Johnson.

In addition to the worldwide television audience of 170 million homes in 140 countries and 33 languages, Music Voyager: Tennessee will air in the in-flight television programming for 13 airlines and will be available in-room through several luxury and resort hotels throughout the world.
